Delivering a measured performance

Leicester City Council, Parks Services, routinely attach the tried and tested Tiltmaster working angle indicator device to all ride-on equipment.

Tiltmaster Safety Tractor DeviceLeicester City Council, Parks Services Area Parks Manager, David Flavelle, overseas a large fleet of groundcare machinery hard at work across the city’s varying landscape. He comments, “Parks Services remit includes large areas of housing & highway sites as well as parks and green open spaces and some of these sites include some severely sloping grassed areas. As a responsible authority we are committed to the provision of the best level of service we can offer the taxpayer and just as committed to the safety of our machinery operators. With that in mind we routinely attach the tried and tested Tiltmaster working angle indicator device to all our ride-on equipment. There are three Tiltmaster models available, 0-15 degrees, 0-25 degrees and for more extreme areas 0-45 degrees. They are easily fixed to any machine and provide a constant supply of working angle data to ensure the operator is not at risk as a result of exceeding the manufacturers recommendations”

David continued “based on their performance, user friendliness and reliability and in tandem with Muthing flails, for some years now, we have been using the Shibaura professional compact tractors as the mainstay of our fleet. The bulk of the fleet is around two years old and in conjunction with our local machinery dealership, Outdoor Power Tools, we have been up-rating the specification of all of our Shibaura CM374’s to accommodate the latest increase in rating for that particular tractor for safe working up to angles of twenty degrees. Any new machines will be supplied compliant. For the maintenance of areas up to thirty degrees we have the recently launched Shibaura SG280 Slope mowers which enable us to address any possible operator health & safety issues when at work in more difficult locations and which are also invaluable for a range of other maintenance tasks”

Simon Richard the UK agent for the Shibaura professional compact tractor range and importer of Tiltmaster commented, “through the increasing supply of our Tiltmaster working angle measuring device over the past two to three years, we have been able to highlight for both UK Local Authority and Contractor users just exactly when tractor operators are at risk from exceeding manufacturers guidelines on working angle limits. Tiltmaster has served to identify a particular health and safety problem which required addressing and was one of the reasons we took the decision to go live with our website at www.slopemower.co.uk
