FGM Claymore Ltd, the UK importer for the Shibaura compact tractor range, report that groundcare dealership Golf & Turf Machinery are being kept busy supplying both Nottingham City and County councils. The most recent order from the City Council was for eight Shibaura CM37436hp 3 cylinder Shibaura Perkins diesel powered Out Front Mowers with 1.5mtr Wiedenmann rotary decks.

Speaking for the dealership Paul Beckett said “Nottinghamshire have been majoring on Shibaura compacts for a number of years now, including the CM374 and SG280 Slope Mower models and report favourably on their performance and reliability. The CM374 is rated for safe working at up to twenty degrees and provides a power unit for a host of year round grounds maintenance tasks and the 28hpSG280 slope mower’s 50-50 weight distribution, allied to the 1500mm wheel base and low centre of gravity, deliver the stability and safety of operation required when at work on inclines of up to 30 degrees. The SG280 is described asa replacement in a fleet rather than an ‘add-on,’ making it one of the most cost effective solutions to working on slopes that is available”

Tony Pap, Street Scene Operations Manager for Nott’s City Council added “we are cutting less often and moving away from cylinder mowing. The Shibaura CM374 is at home on all types of grass and safe at up to 20 degrees. They are a multi-use tractor and our staff love them. We use them for all of our housing estate and roadside verge work and they have proved themselves over the years to be both reliable and robust. We have had no issues with them and for our particular needs they are by far the best fit”

Speaking for Nottinghamshire County Council, Andy Oscroft, Seasonal Works Manager said, “We have been using Shibaura CM374 compacts for some years now and their versatility and reliability on our urban highway and verges makes them the ideal choice. We now cut just five times a year and when used in conjunction with a Muthing flail they cope very well with the longer and wetter growth. The finish we are achieving is comparable with the triple mowers they replaced. We can cut with just one pass which saves us time and fuel and the CM374’s rating for up to 20 degrees and superior road speed are additional benefits”
